HR: do you ever feel confident when you’ve prepared for an English-speaking HR meeting….

Maybe you present an HR project idea and someone says:

“We don’t have the budget for this.”
“Managers won’t have time.”
“This isn’t a priority right now.”

In those moments, it can be difficult to respond calmly, clearly and professionally, especially when English is not your first language.

You may get defensive, overexplain or step back from your recommendation too soon because you don’t want to create tension.

But in HR, avoiding pushback is not really an option.

If you want to be effective in your role, you need to explain why something matters, respond to concerns and stand behind your recommendation in a calm, credible way.
